Our Italian love story began in the enchanting labyrinth of Venice. There’s an undeniable magic to this city of canals, where every corner promises a new discovery. A private gondola ride, gently gliding through the waterways, past ancient palaces and bustling calle, is an absolute must – a truly intimate experience as the gondolier serenades you. Wander hand-in-hand through the majestic Piazza San Marco, marvelling at St. Mark’s Basilica and the intricate architecture of the Doge’s Palace. Lose yourselves in the narrow, winding streets, discovering hidden bridges and charming artisan shops. The aroma of freshly brewed coffee and delectable pasta fills the air, inviting you to savour every moment. Evenings in Venice are incredibly romantic, with the city lights shimmering on the water and the soft strains of music drifting from canalside restaurants.
Leaving the aquatic wonders of Venice behind, we journeyed south, eager to immerse ourselves in the sun-drenched landscapes of Tuscany.
The moment we arrived in Tuscany, we were greeted by an idyllic panorama of rolling hills, verdant vineyards, and ancient olive groves. This region is a feast for the senses, offering a serene contrast to the bustling energy of Venice. Our days were spent exploring picturesque hilltop towns like San Gimignano, with its medieval towers reaching for the sky, and Siena, where the magnificent Piazza del Campo invited us to linger over an Aperol Spritz. A highlight was undoubtedly Florence, the birthplace of the Renaissance. Here, we marvelled at iconic art, crossed the romantic Ponte Vecchio, and indulged in some of the finest gelato. But Tuscany is also about slowing down, savouring the simple pleasures. We took part in a delightful cooking class, learning to prepare authentic Tuscan dishes, and spent an afternoon at a vineyard in the Chianti region, tasting superb wines whilst gazing out at the endless rows of grapes. Each evening, a delicious meal of fresh, local produce, accompanied by a bottle of regional wine, cemented our love for this tranquil part of Italy.
