Seeing hundreds of other balloons rising simultaneously, creating a kaleidoscope of colours against the sunrise, was a truly magical and humbling experience.

Exploring the open-air museum at **Göreme** was like stepping back in time, wandering through remarkably preserved rock-cut churches adorned with frescoes that, despite their age, still retain their spiritual aura.
Even more astonishing are the vast underground cities, such as **Derinkuyu** and **Kaymaklı**, multi-level subterranean complexes where thousands once lived to escape invaders. Descending into their cool depths, navigating narrow tunnels and vast chambers, offers a profound sense of the past. Staying in a cave hotel, a truly authentic **Cappadocian** experience, allowed for a deeper connection to this unique heritage. The cool, stone walls and rustic charm provided a cosy retreat after days spent exploring the moon-like landscape, hiking through valleys, and marvelling at sights like the majestic **Uchisar Castle**.
